Last Updated: 24-11-2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Docu Reminder (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application. By installing or using Docu Reminder, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Important notice: The current version of Docu Reminder does not include OCR, machine learning (ML), or artificial intelligence (AI) features. Any references to these technologies in marketing or future plans apply only to upcoming versions and not to the version covered by this Privacy Policy.

1. About the App

Docu Reminder is an offline-first personal document management and reminder app. It allows you to manually store document details (such as ID numbers, expiry dates, and notes) on your device and set reminders for renewals or important dates.

The App is designed with a strong focus on privacy. Most document-related data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Manually

When you use Docu Reminder, you can choose to manually enter and store information such as:

  • Document names and categories (e.g., Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Driving License, RC, Insurance)
  • Document numbers and related identifiers
  • Expiry or renewal dates
  • Optional notes and descriptions
  • Optional document-related metadata

This information is stored locally on your device and is intended solely to help you organize and remember important document-related information.

2.2 Usage Data via Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect limited, anonymized or pseudonymized usage data to help us understand how the App is used and to improve stability, performance, and user experience.

Firebase Analytics may collect information such as (examples, not a complete list):

  • App version and basic device information (model, OS version)
  • Country or region (approximate, not precise location)
  • Screens visited and features used
  • Session duration and basic interaction events (e.g., app open, app update)

We do not use Firebase Analytics to intentionally collect your document content, document numbers, or personally identifying information you store in the App’s local database.

2.3 Crash Data via Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and technical diagnostic data to improve the stability and reliability of the App.

Crashlytics may collect information such as:

  • Device model and OS version
  • App version and state at the time of crash
  • Error logs and stack traces

Crash reports are used only to identify and fix technical issues. They are not used to profile users.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core functionality of the App (document reminders and organization)
  • To maintain and improve the performance, stability, and usability of the App
  • To analyze usage trends in an aggregated or pseudonymized manner
  • To diagnose crashes and technical issues

4. Local Storage of Your Document Data

Document details you enter (such as numbers, expiry dates, notes) are stored locally on your device, typically in an encrypted local database or secure storage mechanism.

  • We do not operate remote servers that store your document content.
  • Your data is not automatically uploaded to us.
  • If you uninstall the App, local document data stored by the App on your device will generally be removed.

5. Backup and Sync (If Enabled)

The App may offer an optional backup or restore feature (for example, using Google Drive or another cloud provider). If you enable backup:

  • Backup files are stored in your own cloud account (e.g., your Google Drive).
  • We do not have direct access to those backup files.
  • The backup data may contain your document information in encrypted form, depending on the implementation.

You can disable or delete backups using your cloud provider’s interface or the App’s settings (if available).

6. Current Version and AI / OCR / ML Features

The version of Docu Reminder covered by this Privacy Policy does not include:

  • On-device or cloud-based OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
  • Machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI) features
  • Automated extraction of document content from images

All document information in the current version is entered manually by the user. If future versions of the App introduce OCR, ML, or AI features, this Privacy Policy will be updated to clearly explain the new data practices before such features are made available.

7. Permissions Used

Depending on the features you use, the App may request certain permissions, such as:

  • Notifications – To send reminders for document expiry or renewal dates.
  • Storage / Media – To store and retrieve backup files or optional attachments (if implemented).
  • Biometric / Device Lock – To secure access to the App using fingerprint, face lock, or device credentials (if implemented).

Permissions are used only to provide the corresponding functionality and can typically be revoked via your device settings.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Local storage with encryption or secure storage mechanisms (where implemented)
  • Optional app lock (PIN, pattern, password, or biometric) to restrict access

However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We recommend that you also protect your device with a strong screen lock.

9. Children’s Privacy

Docu Reminder is not directed toward children under the age of 13. If you are under 18, you should use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, especially when storing personal identity documents.

10. Third-Party Service Providers

The App may use the following third-party services:

  • Google Firebase Analytics
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics
  • Google Play Billing Library (for in-app purchases, if applicable)
  • Google Drive API or similar (for optional backup features)

These services may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies for more details on how they handle data.

11. Your Choices and Control

Depending on your device and app version, you may be able to:

  • Disable analytics or crash reporting (if such a toggle is provided in the App settings)
  • Revoke app permissions (such as notifications or storage) from the device settings
  • Delete your local document data by removing entries or uninstalling the App
  • Delete cloud backups from your Google Drive or other cloud account (if used)

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. In case of material changes, we may notify you within the App or through another reasonable channel before the new policy takes effect.
